LETS GET MOTIVATED

Hi,

As it starts to get colder and the nights are drawing in it’s oh so easy to not want to get up and leave the house for training!

We are now organising pool swim sessions which should help:-)

Also Spin classes in an amazing studio at riverside leisure centre!

Watch this space and keep up the good work!

BBQ Launch success

Thank you to everyone that came on Saturday it was a great day and it was lovely to meet you all!

The weather looked awful but stayed dry for the most of it:-)

Al the super BBQ chef was a trooper and kept everyone fed, thank you Al.

Benefits of a bike!

Now to the more serious part of bike safety…Here are a few rules of thumb to ensure you arrive at your destination in one piece.

  1. Wear a helmet – As uncool or ugly you think wearing a helmet is, it is cooler than being dead.
  2. Don’t assume anything – Don’t assume a car sees you, make sure you make eye contact with drivers.
  3. Know your surroundings – Like defensive driving, know what’s on the right, left and behind you. Just in case for whatever reason you have to pull out you’ll know what is happening around you.
  4. Claim your lane – Don’t ride so close to the kerb that you are practically touching it. If you are too close to the kerb you will give drivers the idea that they can pass too close to you.
  5. Don’t stop on the blind side of vehicles – for obvious reasons.
  6. Don’t talk on your phone or have headphones in your ears – it makes you totally unaware of your surroundings.
  7. Be seen – don’t ride a bike like a stealth ninja, make sure the other vehicles on the road can see you. Bright clothes please.
  8. Bell & lights – a bell is a legal requirement and light’s help you see and be seen in the dark.
  9. Obey road laws!
  10. Share the road – contrary to popular belief cars and taxi drivers don’t want to run you over, it is just too messy to clean up! Be courteous to other cyclist and cars.

Enjoy the beautiful weather and get out there with your bike!
